A Brief

Introduction

Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, the symbol of the Marine Corps
"Once a Marine, Always a Marine"

What is FritzCorps?  Nothing more than a domain name at this point, really...the name comes from my name (Fritz Doran) and the word, "Corps" which is short for "Marine Corps" for me.

I am a consultant and defense contractor currently supporting the Joint Mobile Network Operations (JMNO) Joint Test & Evaluation (JT&E), a DoD-sponsored program to address network interoperability issues at the tactical level of warfare.  We are specifically developing a set of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) to enable tactical forces at the regiment/brigade and below level to plan for and establish IP network connectivity across service boundaries.

I retired after 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, beginning as an enlisted Marine and eventually attaining the rank of Major.  I spent seven of my last ten years on active duty at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) aboard Camp Pendleton, California, where my last job was Command Information Officer/Current Operations Officer.  I also worked as a Project Officer and Engineering Branch Head while assigned there.  My operational experience was spent with the 2nd Service Support Group during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, where I served as a Data Communications Officer, and with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force where I was the Information Systems Management Officer.

After retiring from the Marines, I worked with AT&T Government Solutions as a program manager from September 2003 until May 2005, supporting the Marine Corps on the west coast in transitioning to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).  I led a team of eight site managers in ensuring the Marines had the support they needed to successfully transition users from USMC-managed assets to NMCI seats.  During this period I worked closely with the USMC Program Office, the NMCI Prime Contractor (EDS), and senior USMC representatives at all bases in the southwest United States as well as two sites in Hawaii.

I supported the Program Manager, NMCI from June 2005 until September 2006 by providing assessment support within the Life Cycle Systems Management Integrated Process Team.

I have a Masters Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in the field of Computer Science, and I am a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.  I have employed the principals of Lean/Six Sigma on a couple of projects at SPAWAR, and have attended the 40-hour Green Belt training sponsored by the Department of the Navy.  I currently hold a Top Secret clearance.
